Vomitory - Carnage Euphoria
(Metal Blade, 2009)

Ah, 1989! George H. W. Bush becomes President, Nintendo releases the GameBoy and BSkyB is launched in Europe. 1989 also happens to be the year that Vomitory were formed; 20 Years of brutal Swedish Death Metal and they show no signs of stopping anytime soon.

From the off, it’s obvious that Vomitory are going straight for the jugular. What is particularly refreshing though, is their ability to mix things up a little. As the album progresses, you’ll notice a bit more diversity whether it’s just a change in tempo, breakdown or a melodic lead. Simple maybe, but the results are what keep this album interesting from start to finish.

There’s not that much more to say other than if you like Vomitory then you’ll love this. In fact, if you like Death Metal, and in particular the Swedish kind then I highly recommend this to you. If you’re tired of all this modern Death Metal, again, I highly recommend this to you. They may be old and wise, but Vomitory are another band that shows just why experience prevails.
