Regurgitator - Love and Paranoia
(Valve Records, 2008)

If ever a name were so deceiving, these Aussies would be right up there. If you chose to read this one expecting some kind of Grind or Death Metal album, you're sadly mistaken. A quick scan of the track list as well, which includes such tracks as "Blood and Spunk", "Drinking Beer is Awesome" and "Destroy This Town" made me think I was going to get something a bit more aggressive.

What we're treated to is some 80's inspired alt. electro pop/rock, and apparently they are pretty popular as well. For me though, their mish mash of styles and their somewhat comedy lyrics can get overly repetitive, and soon become annoying. At times they have the comedy value of the Eagles of Death Metal, and others very poppy Jarvis Cocker/Pulp sounding.

There are a couple of decent tracks, but the majority of the album is not my cup of tea. I would say that they are at their best by far on the heavier numbers, with the title track one of the few highlights of the album.
