With the follow up their debut album, "Hell in a Box" see's President Evil return with their own brand of "Trash & Roll". Last year's "Trash 'n' Roll Asshole Show" whilst not bad, wasn't the best album that I have ever come across, and unfortunately, this one dishes up more of the same mediocrity. The sludgy/punky rock style is similar at times to Motorhead; but the lack of any real variation between the songs ultimately results in the album just bleeding together. This one suffers from the same problem the debut had, repetitive with no real stand out tracks. With "Hell in a Box", President Evil are not breaking any new ground, nor to they show any real progression from their debut. There are some real good moments on here I have to say, decent riffs and some fantastic grooves to the start of the songs, but then they just speed up and when they get going, they all sound very similar and I find my attention wandering. On paper, President Evil has it all, but as with "Trash 'n' Roll Asshole Show" this one also falls just short. Chris Rogers Back to Reviews
