Why oh Why! Has no one ever mentioned Mustasch to me before? Better late than never
though I guess.
Not the usual thing you hear from Gothenburg, but Mustasch could very well be one of the grooviest and generally most "cool" bands I've heard in a long while. Vocally, they remind me a bit like Glenn Danzing combined with The Cult's Ian Astbury and musically it's all about the riffs. Heavy stoner rock tinged Metal with some fantastic, groovy riffs and prevalent heavy bass and drum work. The album really has everything from heavy numbers to acoustic interludes and even the occasional what can only be described as a hundred piece orchestra backing a couple of fucking heavy tracks. Just check out “The End” for the pinnacle of "groove", the first single from the album "Double Nature" or the beefy "Bring me Everyone". I tried not to give this a 10 if I could help it, but there is simply not a single weak track on here. Formed back in 98, all the members are well on their way to 40 now and they easily rock harder than the majority of the new young bands that are emerging. This is their fourth full-length album now, and I’m ashamed to say that I know nothing about Mustasch. "Latest Version of the Truth" is definitely one of the highlights of 2007 for me, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was in a few of the album of the year polls amongst the various presses. Get it! Chris Rogers
