There has been a lot of hype surrounding JFAC, and especially now with the release of their debut "Genesis".

I can't say that I was caught up in the whole excitement thing, but with over 8 million plays and 163,000 friends on Myspace, they must be doing something right. Moving slightly away from the pig squeals and Deathcore of their Doom Demo, JFAC have moved onto to a more technical Death Metal style. They've ditched the breakdowns for more "technical" song structures which may not go down too well with the ‘Core fans.

Whilst there is definitely something appealing about JFAC, "Genesis" doesn't live up the hype I have been hearing. Maybe I was expecting too much, I don't know, but 30 minutes doesn't really give you enough time to get fully acquainted to the band.

If you're into bands such as All Shall Perish and The Black Dahlia Murder, then JFAC may appeal to you. I definitely think that the hype surrounding them will continue for some time. The real test however, will be with their next album; it will be interesting to see which direction they take. Overall, whilst "Genesis" may be a decent Deathcore/Tech Death Metal album, it is some distance away from being spectacular.
