Future Is Tomorrow - Fit To Die (Part I)
(Independent, 2009)

Italian prog-power metal band Future Is Tomorrow's self-released debut "Fit To Die (part I)," is a concept album written by drummer Fabio Tomba that confronts the subject of death, specifically about a funeral, as seen through the eyes of the deceased. The music is massive, and the interpretation of the story makes this a creative and pleasurable listening experience. The band creates powerful metal with huge guitar riffs, tight innovative drumming, great vocal melodies, loads of keyboards and an original male choir.

Future Is Tomorrow play high-quality power metal. Although not as heavy as Pathosray or Vision Divine, and not as epic as Thy Majesty or Rhapsody of Fire, but pretty damn good when compared with other Italian power metal bands.

Opening with "Dead (Requiem Aeternam)," the band mixes heavy riffs with accompanying keyboards and a driving drumbeat, followed by the commanding voice of Massimo Bottiglieri. Spoken Latin and choral arrangements lay the groundwork of the story being told from the dead man's perspective. More Latin verses start "Another Soul (Kyrie)" that has progressive elements and a heavy guitar/keyboard riff that continues the ebb and flow of the story. "All For You (Dies Irae)" has a great catchy chorus that will be embedded into your memory.

On "Awakening The Ghosts," as well as CD closer "The Day of Retribution," the deep growl vocals of Alberto "Ciardo" Da Rech (Delirium X Tremens), compliment the melodic vocals of Bottiglieri.

This is a great achievement from an unsigned and mostly unknown band that possesses great musicianship, interesting ideas and a desire to create something magical. I hope that Future Is Tomorrow don't get labeled as just another power metal band, because they deserve much more and I expect bigger things from this band in the future. Well done.
