Restless in the Tides
Band: Forever in Terror

Recently signing to Metal Blade for the release of their debut "Restless in the Tides", every member of the band were just a twinkle in their parents' eyes when Metal Blade started 25 years ago. Despite this, Forever in Terror have gained some invaluable experience in opening for such acts as Meshuggah, Machine Head, Trivium and God Forbid.
"Restless in the Tides" clocks in at a hefty 55 minutes, which isn't a bad thing if you a band such as Iron Maiden say, but when it's 55 minutes of somewhat repetitive stuff, it gets a little tedious to listen to. The tracks are 5, 6 and 7 minutes long, which are far too long when you have somewhat limited ideas. The majority of the album is Metalcore, and Metalcore that you would have heard all before. Down-tuned riffing, heavy "chug-chug" breakdowns, monotonous screamed vocals and some pretty uninspiring dual lead work. I'm not going to completely write them off though, as they are obviously competent musicians. The drumming is spot on, lightning fast and predominant throughout. They just need to shorten the songs, or at least make the listener keep interest throughout. With "Restless in the Tide", they just don't get there head and shoulders above the competition in an already saturated genre. Chris Rogers
