Extreme O.D. - This Is The End
(Independent, 2009)

Extreme O.D. are not happy, not happy at all. In fact, you could say the UK band are downright angry.

Brutality meets groove is what Extreme O.D. serve up on their three- song EP "This is the End." With lyrics like "I hate this, I hate life, I hate you," Extreme O.D. create angry face-smashing metal. Vocalist Mitch Russell's raspy screams are reminiscent of so many vocalists of this genre, but they are done well and with an aggressive edge.

Influenced by Lamb of God, Machine Head and Devildriver, Extreme O.D. mix groove and thrash elements together to create a pretty potent blend.

"This Is The End" was featured on Terrorizer's Unsigned Edition CD sampler in September's issue and is also the opener on this EP. The song starts off with Kieron Berry's massive chug-fest riffs, and some cool drum fills by Brin Roberts before Russell's angry wrath spews forth.

"Renounce" has a great groovy-yet-haunting opening, followed by Russell's gravel-voice declaration, "Death to all love!" A less screamy vocal style, not sure if its Berry or bassist Ian Deaville, is also used during the song and gives it some added flavor.

"Own Worst Enemy" has a nice chugging pace to it with some melodic interludes.

Extreme O.D. haven't created anything new, but "This is the End" is a pretty brutal slab of pulsating groove metal.
