Every Time I Die
The Big Dirty

Now, I've never heard anything at all from ETID so I was coming at this one totally blind, although I have been hearing some very good things about them from our fellow metal press' over the last few months.
From the first couple tracks, I knew that ETID were not going to blow me away. They throw in a somewhat Southern Rock touch to their songs, which sounds decent enough, but the majority is just straightforward Emo-tinged Metalcore. The kind of stuff you would have heard done plenty of times before. There is just not enough variety on "The Big Dirty" for my liking. There are some decent moments on here don't get me wrong, but in all, the album lacks any real direction, excitement and even sounds a bit "samey" at times. I also like the occasional breakdown, but the attempted ones on here are amongst the weakest I have ever come across. Unless you're a massive fan of Emo and/or Metalcore and of course the band itself, I'd give them a listen before buying as there are plenty of bands that do this better. Chris Rogers
