First off this album will be too extreme for most peoples taste. It's heavy, the vocals are very harsh and it is concentrating on despair in a way that will probably be too much for the average person on the street. However I personally quite like it.

This is a split release between two bands Dimentianon and Rigor Sardonicous. J. Fogarazzo of Rigor Sardonicous was formerly a member of Dimentianon explaining the connection between the two. The album starts with the Dimentianon side of the split. Of the two bands they are probably the easier listen of the bands. They have been building up their profile having played supporting slots for bands such as Arch Enemy, Cannibal Corpse, Kreator, Akercocke and Enslaved. They play three songs of heavy black/death metal. The harsh cookie monster vocals are done quite well and the thrash riffs are solid enough. However for me it's the Rigor Sardonicous side of the split I'm interested in. The Rigor Sardonicous part of split opens with “Anima Interitus,” and sets the pace for the rest of their tracks. It's slow and heavy. The vocals are low stretched out calls of anguish. Its slabs of death doom that will make your mind unravel if your mind isn't in the mood for it. Rigor Sardonicous are pain in musical form. At times it sounds like someone being tortured. If you're after something light and cheerful this is not for you. This is dark music, chilling to the soul. On the band website they have the quote "The only thing better than a band who gets a lot of chicks is a band who scares a lot of chicks". If that is their aim I imagine they will succeed with a vast number of women.

So on page this does not sound like an attractive prospect as listening material. However I personally find their particular brand of oppressive misery appealing. I find a certain solace in the music they make, but be warned this is not for the weak hearted.
