Not to be confused with the Swedish Prog band of the same name, this Darkwater hail from Glasgow, Scotland and are fronted by the "alternative" model Lora.

I don't usually review singles, but I felt Darkwater deserved a mention, not because they are from the UK, but because they are trying something new. Admittedly, this is not my usual cup of tea, but there is just something about Darkwater that I find catchy. They have a very diverse sound, drawing on chunky guitar riffs and electronic soundscapes. Think along the lines of the kind of stuff Marilyn Manson and NIN are doing, but with an angelic yet devilishly sexy female vocal. Also fellow countrymen Garbage come to find.

Interestingly and surprisingly, the two studio tracks on here are mixed by Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, who commented about his involvement with the band; "I get approached all the time to work with bands and 99% of the time I have to pass because I've heard it all before. Darkwater have a sound wholly their own and that originality is what attracted me to them. And the band just fucking rocks!" which is huge compliment to live up to, which we will find out with the release of their debut. Despite not being singed to a major label, they have already played at all of Glasgow's major venues, and have supported the likes of Hayseed Dixie, The Damned and Dog Eat Dog. They've also gained the attention of such people as Jim Gellatly (XFM Scotland), Tim Shaw (Kerrang Radio) and Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden and BBC Radio 6).

With this single, we're treated to two studio tracks in "1920" and "Left Behind", a live performance of "Find What We Take" and a bonus CD which contains the video's to "1920" and "Alone And…". Overall it is a very nice package and a great way to be introduced to the band. Definitely a band that shows a lot of promise, it will be interesting to hear a full-length album if/when it emerges!
