Blackbird
Band: Alter Bridge

Whilst their debut "One Day Remains" may not have been the greatest album I've ever heard, Alter Bridge did show a lot of potential. Whether they were still in the process of breaking the whole "Creed" ties thing, I don't know, but with "One Day Remains" you could immediately tell that there were three quarters of Creed here.
Now with the added input of front man Myles Kennedy, Alter Bridge have ironed out the creases and have totally distanced themselves from any of the "Creed" references. What I'm particularly pleased to see is that they have beefed things up a lot, even a few metal tinged tracks complete with solo's make an appearance. "Blackbird" showcases a side to Mark Tremonti that he's never shown not only just in Creed, but also on their debut as well. Tremonti has always shown just why he is one of the best modern guitars players around at the moment, but on here he totally surpasses himself. Easily the best performance he has ever given. Vocalist Myles Kennedy joined the band too late to add any of his own touch to "One Day Remains", but on here he is credited with writing, and the difference between the albums is amazing, Blackbird totally outshines the debut by miles. Make sure you give "Blackbird" a chance, it is truly a fantastic album, and every single track stands out. I did hear a rumour that there was a Creed reunion in the making, but with an album like this, and with a band as gifted as Alter Bridge, I sincerely doubt it. Chris Rogers
