Irish thrash heads GAMA BOMB have been voted 'Best Newcomers' of 2008 in the Terrorizer readers' poll.

2008 was a great year for GAMA BOMB - frontman PHILLY BYRNE enthuses that 2008 was "Explosive. It was the biggest year in the history of Gama Bomb by far. Making an album in Britain, touring Europe twice and even more made this a landmark year. It's amazing we've all still got full mouths of teeth to be honest with the amount of drinking and rough housing that's gone on. Wicked. We'll remember 2008 very fondly."

Now 2008 has ended on a high note and 2009 has begun in the most awesome fashion, winning 'Best Newcomer' in the Terrorizer readers' poll, plus being voted second-best live band and fifth-best band overall.

A stoked GAMA BOMB vocalist PHILLY BYRNE says: "It made our day to hear how we slayed in this poll. To be named best newcomers was amazing, and we raised a glass of German beer when we heard the news. It just shows that even after six years together as a band, you can become the hottest new thing to some people, and that means we're doing something right. We're especially proud to have performed so well in the live act category: we gigged as hard as anyone last year on a much lower profile than most of the bands we trounced in that list, and next year we're going to top it, because nobody can put on a show like GAMA BOMB. Seriously, look out: people will die from enjoyment at a G-Bomb show in the near future. Get insurance."
